The Honorable Daniel Cummings is the Minister of Health, Wellness and Energy and a distinguished Civil Engineer with more than 46 years of professional experience in the design, development, and management of water supply, wastewater, environmental, and solid waste management systems.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Environmental Science from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of the West Indies.
Prior to his appointment as Minister, Honorable Cummings served as Chief Executive Officer of the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA), where he provided strategic leadership in the modernization and expansion of the nation's water and sanitation services. Under his leadership, the CWSA became the first water utility in the Caribbean to integrate solid waste management into its operations, reflecting his commitment to innovation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable national development.
His leadership has also extended beyond the national level. He is a Past President and current Trustee of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) and a former Rotarian, having contributed to numerous professional and community development initiatives throughout his career.
Honorable Cummings has served as the Member of Parliament for West Kingstown since 2010. During his years in Opposition, he held responsibility for the health portfolio for more than 15 years, contributing to national dialogue on healthcare policy, advocating for improvements in health service delivery, and helping to shape discussions on the future of the country's health system.
As Minister of Health, Wellness and Energy, Honorable Cummings is committed to strengthening primary healthcare, advancing health promotion and disease prevention, expanding equitable access to quality healthcare services, modernizing health infrastructure, and improving health outcomes for all Vincentians.
