The Nutrition Unit is the department in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment with responsibility for:
- the development, co-ordination and monitoring of national standards, policies and guidelines in nutrition and dietetics;
- the implementation of the national public health nutrition programme; and
- the delivery of dietetic (medical nutrition therapy and food service management) service at government health institutions;
The Unit is listed as number 676 in the Estimates of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and is the lead agency for co-ordination of the National Food and Nutrition Policy and Plan of Action and the Food and Nutrition Priority Area of the Caribbean Co-operation in Health Initiatives.
