The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Health Information System (SVGHIS) has already been implemented and is being used at 36 facilities daily. The modules that are effectively functioning at these health centers are Electronic Health Records, Maternal Child Health, Clinician Order Entry, Supply Chain Management, HIV and Human Resources. Other modules, along with the remaining clinics, will be implemented soon.
The Nutrition Unit, Community Nursing Service, and the National Infant and Young Child Nutrition Committee within the Ministry of Health and the Environment have recently combined to hold a launching ceremony for the new Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Child Health Records and the EPI Manual.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines continues to see major improvements in the area of Food Safety. This was highlighted by Chief Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Rupert Doyle, who pointed out that the year 2012 has been a productive one for the Environmental Management Department in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment.
The legislation governing the administration of vaccines to children is the immunization of the children Act of 1982. Since Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenza Type B were introduced in 2003 they were not included in the Act. A bill to amend the act to include Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenza Type B, was passed in parliament on the 5th of April , 2011.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment wishes to advise the general public that as part of its mosquito control programme, officers within the Insect Vector Control Unit will conduct fogging operations on mainland SaintVincent on the following days and places, beginning at 5.00 p.m: Fogging will be done simultaneously on both sides of the Country.
