The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA) held a second in a series of training sessions for Medical Doctors and Pharmacists on Wednesday 4th, December, 2019, at the National Insurance Service's conference room .

 

Welcome remarks was done by Dr.Jean-Saville Cummings, MCA Biotechnologist, while Dr. Jerrol Thompson, MCA Chief Executive Officer delivered the opening remarks.

Various presentations were made and were followed by questions and answers as part of the training for the healthcare professionals.

The presentations included:

  •   Dr. Jason Young, MCA Medical Officer, "The Legal requirements, the process of registering patients, dispensaries & dispensing and the tracking system"
  •   Dr. Wycliffe Baird, GP and Medical Consultant for Cannabis Access Clinic Ltd (Canada) as well as CEO of Cannabis Access Ltd (SVG), "Cannabis and its use in history, the endocannabinoid system and prescribing cannabis"
  • Mrs. Fiona Dennie-Pierre, MCA Drug Inspector/INCB Liaison, "Recent developments in medicinal cannabis, tips on dosing, routes of administration and the anti-drug campaign"


During the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to trainees.
