The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment held a press conference on Friday, March 6th, 2020, at the Ministry's conference room. 

The press conference updated the gathering on matters related to COVID-19.

On hand at the press conference was Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Luke Browne, Permanent Secretary, Chief Medical officer, Infectious Diseases specialist, Epidemiologist and Chief Laboratory Technologist, all from the Ministry of Health.

It is noted that there has been a change in the risk of infection for the Caribbean region as it relates to the COVID-19 virus. The risk has been revised and changed from moderate to high.

Persons were tested for possible infection and to date, there were no confirmed cases in SVG; as lab tests returned negative results.

It was noted that training was done for staff at ports of entries throughout the country. Also as part of the ongoing response in preparation for a possible COVID-19 virus outbreak, there is a risk communication campaign currently ongoing. There is a call for good hygiene practices be done to help combat as well as to lessen the spread of the COVID-19 virus and other viruses. 


It was highlighted that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is moving towards an isolation facility pertaining to the COVID-19 virus.
