The Nutrition Unit within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment recently concluded a body composition study aimed at strengthening the country’s capacity to measure body composition and collect nutrition related data.

This initiative supports ongoing efforts to prevent childhood obesity and reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) later in life.
A random sample of students aged 8 to 11 years, 11 months, was selected from the following urban primary schools to participate in the study:
1.    Lodge Village Government School
2.    Lowmans Leeward Anglican Primary
3.    Kingstown Government School
4.    Kingstown Preparatory School
5.    C.W. Prescod Primary School
6.    Sion Hill Government School
7.    Kingstown Anglican School
8.    St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School
9.    Bequia Anglican Primary School

As a token of appreciation, each participating student received a school bag for the new school year, generously donated by Mr. Geoff Mulraine.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment extends its heartfelt thanks to all the students and parents who graciously took part in this important initiative. Your support is invaluable as we continue our efforts to combat childhood obesity and promote healthier futures for the children of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
