The Port Elizabeth Health Centre, which was newly constructed at a cost of over  E.C.$761,000.00 was officially opened on Tuesday 19th March. The Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the Port Elizabeth Health Centre Project Managing Committee hosted the Handover and Opening Ceremony.

The Health Centre was built under the Sixth Basic Needs Trust Fund Program at an overall cost of  E.C.$761,863.00. This sum included a grant of E.C.$538,980.00 from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and matched funds of E.C.$222,883.00 from the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Design was by Aurin Bennett Architects and construction by Frederick Construction Services of Rillan Hill. The handing over ceremony is scheduled saw addresses made by Minister of Health, Hon. Clayton Burgin; Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar; Parliamentary Representative for Northern Grenadine, Dr. Godwin Friday and Deputy Director of Grenadines Affairs, Herman Belmar.

Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, delivered the feature address.
