The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment conducted a five-day voluntary counseling and testing workshop which ran from the 3rd to the 7th of December, as part of activities to observe World AIDS Day, which was observed on Saturday the 1st Dec 2012.

The sessions were conducted at the Ministry’s Conference Room from 8.30 a.m daily. Voluntary counseling and testing is a service which permits people to talk with a counselor about whether or not they are likely to become infected with HIV, identify ways in which they can prevent infection of HIV and get a blood test to discover their HIV status.

Nurses from the Community Health Service and representatives from non-governmental organizations were among the participants at the week’s workshop.

The workshop was co-ordinated by the National AIDS Secretariat in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment.
