The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, held its Annual Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition on Thursday, 8th June.
Grade 6 Students debated the Topic: “Should Parents Be Blamed, Or Not, For The Misconduct Of Their Children?” in the Annual Primary Schools' Public Speaking Competition. It took place at the Methodist Church conference hall, in Kingstown.
The competition is in its 14th year, and is hosted by the Health Promotion Unit in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment; and was sponsored by Digicel for the 4th year.
The 11 schools represented in the competition are:

There were 10 females and one male.
The competition was keenly contested. It was divided into two segments, firstly the student prepared speech, with an allowed limit of 8 minutes. Secondly, the impromptu speech, with an allowed limit of two minutes to speak and one minute to prepare.

1st Place - Bequia Anglican School - Brielle Compton
2nd Place - Georgetown Government - Ansonique Cuffy
3rd Place - Paget Farm Government - Kiara Bynoe
The awards were as follows:
The 1st place winner took both the challenge and first place trophies, as well as a certificate. She also walked away with a Digicel manufactured smart phone, and a 30 day quick pick bundle. Second and third place winners received a smart phone each, and seven-day Digicel to Digicel quick pick bundle. All of the participants received tokens of appreciation as well as a certificate.
